Napoleon III Empire Style Bureau Plat

Circa 1855

A very fine quality Napoleon III period mahogany and burr walnut bureau plat in the Empire taste. The shaped top edged in gilded brass above an apron fitted with three drawers around a central kneehole, all decorated with the finest ormolu and flanked on all corners by triple panels of gilded brass shuttering. Standing on hexagonal tapering and fluted legs with gilded brass feet and inset with superbly cast foliate ormolu.
All with a superb age appropriate patina, including the leather which may well be the original.
