Circa 1760
A particularly fine quality 18th century mahogany Chippendale period mahogany armchair profusely and finely carved to the back and arms with trailing acanthus, flowerheads and 'C' scrolls. The fully upholstered seat is covered in a quality,yellow silk, modern damask and raised on square chamfered legs joined by an 'H' stretcher.
Unusulal treatment to the tops of the uprights either side of the back, where they are headed by out-scrolled capitals, adourned with carving that continues across the top rail. A first-rate Chippendale inspired chair of generous size and excellent quality.
