ATTRIBUTED TO CHIPPENDALE
An exceptional and rare Chippendale design mahogany Breakfast or Supper Table of the highest quality, the plain top with drop-flaps and moulded edge above a single apron drawer and wire-caged compartment below. Standing on square moulded legs with chamfered inner edges and with concave fronted doors to the cage.

72cms high by 102.5cms wide (open), 58cms (flaps down) by 65cms deep

The exceptional quality of craftsmanship and use of superior timbers employed in this table strongly suggest creation by a master 18th Century cabinet maker. The design is very close to others known to have been supplied by Chippendale, most notably one in Dumfries Place (Christies, 12th July 2007), supplied by Thomas Chippendale and invoiced on 5 May 1759; ‘A mahog: Breakfast table of fine wood wt. a Writing drawer and wirework round and castors &c. £6-8’.
The current table contains many matching elements including the moulding around the lower shelf and the leather-wrapped castors.
